Las Vegas Museum of Art

Identity

With its projected 2029 opening, the Las Vegas Museum of Art is making history as the city's first stand-alone art museum. A world-class institution rising in Symphony Park, LVMA will serve more than two million residents and visitors from around the globe, providing a community anchor where art, education, and belonging meet.

We started by examining what makes Las Vegas unique — the dramatic contrast between earth and sky. The identity system draws from the red rocks and desert landscape while the typography mirrors the monumentality of the skyline. Like the city itself, home to misfits and rule-breakers, the wordmark doesn't quite fall in line. The letters shift in height, subtly nodding to Las Vegas's eclectic spirit and the diverse communities who've always called it home. And where the building roots itself in the earth, the visual language looks upward. A crisp blue gradient evokes the expansive desert sky, open, optimistic, and inviting. This duality captures the museum's purpose: to honor Las Vegas while offering a place to pause, think, and gather in community.
